The food, service and atmosphere were all very nice. They have allot of memorabilia on the walls when you first enter the building and you spend some time soaking in all the history. Nice place and will definitively be back again soon.
Thos is a great hidden restaurant with homemade food and lots of antiques to look at. The staff was very friendly and the food was reasonably priced. I will definitely go back when I pass through this little town again.

We stopped here after it was recommended to us by the nice folks at the county museum a block away. They said there were lots of old antique on the walls. We both ordered steaks, the wife also got a side salad and baked potato while I ordered a steak with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; we received our food in no time. Everything was cooked to perfection, the salad was crisp and the coleslaw fresh. It was a great lunch stop along the road.
Was my first Time Through Gatesville Tx and this was top recommended and I see why! Service was sweet, duration was short, and the catfish is the best I've ever had! My teens loved their dishes, my daughter had a salad that was great portion size for a large salad, and my son got the burger which he said was better than most he's had! We are definitely coming back and recommending!
My preferred dining establishment in Gatesville, Texas. I have sampled nearly every item on the menu and have consistently been impressed with the quality. The cuisine is consistently fresh and delectable, ranging from the chicken fried steak, which is the finest I've encountered in years, to the succulent ribeye steak, or a mouth-watering hamburger accompanied by onion rings or hand-cut fries. Furthermore, the sweet treats are not to be overlooked. I never considered myself to have a preference for sweets until I discovered The Feed Mill, and now their desserts are an absolute essential. The fresh homemade peach cobbler, pecan pie, and strawberry cake are just a few examples of the delightful confections that have become my favorites. I would like to express my appreciation to Tanna (the owner), my waitress Becky, and the rest of the wonderful staff who have consistently made me feel like family. I value all of you. I highly recommend that everyone experience the delicious food, friendly staff, and relaxing environment filled with antiques and treasures from past generations that are rapidly being forgotten in this era at The Feed Mill; you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely delicious food. Food - I got the small order of the chicken friend steak. The large portion was hefty, and usually I can put down a lot of food, but I had to get the small. Potato salad was delicious. Mac and cheese was ok. Nothing to write home about. Friends had some great burgers and sweet potato fries. You must get the banana pudding cake.
The food was pretty good. I had the catfish mashed potatoes and beans. The fish came out very hot which was nice. The one thing I can say is they have the best service I have had in a long time at any restaurant. All of the employees here were very friendly and offering to fill drinks every few minutes.
Very tasty home-style food. They know what they are doing with the fried items. Excellent chicken fried steak. I was less impressed with the dessert items, but maybe that’s because we ate there later in the day and a lot of the dessert items were sold out. We tried the cheesecake and blackberry pie, and while both items were decent, we wouldn’t order them again. Overall, a very good restaurant… highly recommend!
Went here on a Weekday for lunch and we had a great experience! The atmosphere was VERY well done and had so much charm. Apart of me just wanted to talk around and look at everything! Service was very friendly, even sat us in our own section so we could set up the highchair for our daughter and not be in the way. We got our food out quick, and everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered fried pickles for our appetizer, mini cordogs and toys for our daughter, the Southwest burger and the Fish and Chips, all of it turned out better than I was expecting! The only complaint was my fiance thought the tarter sauce was too sweet. Had a great experience and will DEFINITELY come back!
